Problem: Telecom Italia is using an old and expensive optical instrument (Apogeo) to survey/elaborate antenna Tilt and Azimuth.
Reason: Inspections are necessary both for maintenance activities and for installation & test of new towers and antennas.
Goal: Deploy an effective and inexpensive solution avoiding the use of large drones and laser scanners.

The solution is based on a 300 gram drone with thermal and HD camera, double GPS (GPS & Glonass) plus specific software.
- 3D Photogrammetry- Optical visibility analysis to check microwave radio system connection.
- Tilt & Azimuth Elaboration of the antennas.
- POI (Point of interest) analysis to locate deteriorations of some specific elements.
- Create a register of digital tower & antenna data.

- Coupled with Exponent’s Sky Commander Tracker (SIM enabled –currently 4G enabled).
- Data is stored and available for audit as a flight replay or as a data export for integration with 3rd party tools.
- Reports can be generated at the flight level or aggregated over time, pilot, RPAS, alert type or any combination of the above to provide a comprehensive analytical tool to study RPAS/UAV and ultimately pilot behaviours.
